Kunsoo was born in Seoul, Korea. After completing college, he moved to the U.S. to pursue a Ph.D. (U of Texas Medical Branch), followed by a postdoc (Columbia U). He then returned to Korea, where he worked at Seoul National University for 27 years. Upon retiring, he chose to follow his passion for research by joining the Engelke lab to focus solely on science. Outside the lab, he enjoys strolling around the neighborhood with his wife.
